CES 2013 show report and THE Show 2013 show reports

High-end Audio at CES, Las Vegas, 2013 in living color.

We are [slowly. argh.] getting our show reports up at Ultimist.

We are putting up the photos for THE Show 2013 (The Entertainment Show Las Vegas) show report in the same order as we encountered each room.

Similarly for High-end Audio at CES 2013.

Overall I would say that attendance was down a little bit, but that people which much more intent on listening and finding out information than the usual lookyloos we typically see at CES. There were fewer exhibitors at THE Show but more exhibitors on the 34th and 35th floors at the Venetian at CES.

Much fewer turntables this year. The growth in people using laptops versus CD players continues, but at a much slower rate.

In my opinion, the typically no-so-great sounding gear is getting better much faster than the best selling gear is getting better, meaning there is better and better sound at shows, and much better performance at lower prices [I know, even as the top end gets more and more expensive] but fewer breakthroughs at the state-of-the-art level.
